“The only criterion for me to find a partner is in three words, “to be my teacher”, that is, he must be able to be my teacher.” Jason Liu revealed.
Jason Liu believes that the ability to gather top talents from all walks of life to join Shandong Yunlong, in addition to a common great cause, the second point is the recognition of the CEO pattern. In layman’s terms, it is whether the interests are well distributed, and whether the CEO can stick to the strategy and think coherently.
Mr. Deng commented that Jason Liu has an appeal. When he talks about what the company wants to do, he will infect every partner and fill everyone with a sense of urgency to practice.
The 37-year-old Jason Liu has a strong sense of historical mission from a generation of Chinese autobots. He witnessed the prosperous history of the rise of China’s own brands, and he had tears in his eyes for the rise of Made-in-China.
Jason Liu graduated from the College of Automotive Engineering of Jilin University and is an automotive designer with a background in science class. From Wu Jing’s BJ40 in the movie “Wolf Warriors 2″ to the reimagined Hongqi sedan, most of the most popular models in China in recent years were written by Jason Liu. In addition, you will not be unfamiliar with the other bike he designed: there is no chain, no fear of tyre tyres, and the maintenance-free first-generation Mobike can still be maintained outside for four years in the wind and rain.
Like most car designers, Jason Liu’s original dream was to create his own supercar brand. Before graduating from university, he registered a trademark for his dream: WANG-meaning We Are National Glory, “the light of national products”.
But after being in contact with the industry for a long time, Jason Liu found that supercars had long been a romance for carmakers in the last century. Today’s cars have become a commodity for the general public, no longer pursuing the ultimate in speed. Turning his eyes to the world, the revolution of new energy vehicles has come, so he turned his dream of making cars in another direction.
On December 8, 2018, Shandong Yunlong was registered and established. The company name comes from his father Yunlong. He is a farmer in Weifang, Shandong. He used to be a car soldier in Xinjiang when he was serving in the army. He has a strong interest and talent for automobiles and machinery. This interest was later passed on to Jason Liu, allowing him to plan car building into his life since he was a child.
Shandong Yunlong is China’s first car brand named after a person. “When the company name was registered, my father was very moved. But this is also urging us not to mess around, otherwise people will scold your dad every day.”
Two years later, Kering’s low-speed electric pickup for the county market was unveiled. “I made an electric pickup because I knew that I had no financing ability at the time.” As an automobile designer, Jason Liu knew that the car industry had a very high capital threshold. If he wants to use low-cost investment to be a great car company that can change the world, he feels that he has to start with a group that has not been paid attention to and build a brand-new productivity tool to fundamentally change the production relationship.
In Shandong Yunlong’s early publicity materials, electric pickups were defined as production tools in the county market. Its target audience is entrepreneurs who work hard in the vast counties and rural areas and need suitable means of transportation. Shandong Yunlong quickly expanded its distribution channels to the whole country, entered overseas, and sold to 29 countries.
“We found that this electric pickup has solved the problem of American farmers, but it has not solved the problem of Chinese farmers.” The wall is blooming outside the wall, and Kering’s electric pickup has realized the company’s original vision in the American market, working on farms and the countryside. Farm work, drag goods. Because of its small size, cars from China even drove away traditional American pickup trucks and used them as tractors in agricultural airfields.
After seeing enthusiastic discussions on the Internet about how to “smuggle” an electric pickup from China, Shandong Yunlong registered a company in the United States and set out to establish its own sales channels. According to Jason Liu, the company will gradually realize profitability only by exporting electric pickup trucks. But he was still unwilling to realize his original ideal.
At the end of 2019, a blueprint for Kaiyun started to be planned in Jason Liu’s mind. How to create a “new species” in the commercial vehicle field under the premise that the user’s use cost remains unchanged, and provide an integrated full-process logistics solution of “intelligent hardware + system + service”.
For Shandong Yunlong, this is a brand new team, a brand new business model, and a brand new product.
“Why I am obsessed with the most difficult road, because only this road can change the relationship of productivity, can change the world, and not repeat my career in designing a car.” Jason Liu said.
